Job listings
A 3D map where each dot is a job listing and nearby dots are similar jobs, with labelled groups listed beside it.
Each dot is a listing. Similar jobs sit close together.

Situation

The situation

Reading a job market one listing at a time does not show which kinds of work are in demand or what they pay.

The build

What I built

I built a tool that collects permitted job listings, stores versioned snapshots, groups similar listings on a 3D map, and charts pay ranges and skill demand. It also estimates the effort behind fixed-price jobs.

In use

What it does

  • The tool collects listings in runs and stores versioned snapshots.
  • A map places similar jobs together and shows clusters and outliers.
  • Charts show pay ranges by skill and which skills appear together.

In detail

A closer look at the problem and how the build works.

The situation

A marketplace shows jobs one at a time. That view does not answer which kinds of work are in demand or what they pay.

What I built

I built a tool that collects permitted listings and stores versioned snapshots of them.

How it works

  • The tool collects listings in runs.
  • It places each listing on a map by meaning, so similar jobs sit together.
  • You can explore clusters, near neighbours and outliers on the map.
  • Charts show pay by skill, skill frequency, and which skills appear together.
  • For fixed-price jobs, the tool estimates the effort involved.
